Flying Ryanair

Ryanair was established in 1985 and since then it has been challenging the big airlines becoming Europe’s most popular low cost airline company, with more than 200 destinations and 1800 flights per day. Thanks to its competitive prices and continuous Ryanair deals, it makes finding super low fares over 33 European countries possible.

Ryanair Offer

Thanks to Ryanair flights, not only you can get to Europe’s most famous capital cities, but also to smaller cities both on domestic and international routes - all this at very competitive prices. How can they make it possible? By using secondary airports, which are generally farther than main ones but are served by low cost companies. For instance, you can take a flight from Rome Ciampino to Paris or to other destinations like Dublin, Madrid, Lisbon or Prague at prices starting from just € 1! On the contrary, from Fiumicino airport you can generally travel at a domestic level, with flights from Rome to Catania or from Rome to Brindisi. Also Bergamo - Orio al Serio offers many flights to Italy and to the rest of Europe, for example from Milan to Barcelona. Finally, you can almost get everywhere from London Stansted airport - London to Berlin flights and also London to Athens are all daily connections.

    Schedules

Ryanair schedule varies a lot depending on the route and the season. There are seasonal routes as well or it’s easy to find more connections during peak season, such as for beach destinations. A search on Wanderio is a quick way to view all available flights to your destination in the selected dates. Looking for Rome to London flight schedule, for example, you’ll see there are 5 daily connections, from 6.30am to 5.25pm; while departures from Milan to Madrid are at 6.45am, 11.25am and 6pm.

    Ryanair fleet

Almost every Ryanair flight is operated on a Boeing 737, which travels as fast as 850 km/h and is able to transport up to 189 people. In most cases, seats are not very distant one to another, but there are some with extra space.

    Ryanair services

The low cost airline company doesn’t offer many complimentary services, but you can enjoy several amenities by selecting certain fares or by adding some extras to your reservation.

      Pets

You are not allowed to travel with your pet on a Ryanair flight. Only guide dogs can get on board as long as they have their passport and health certificate.

      Luggage

As of January, 15th 2018 Ryanair hand baggage policy has changed. Now you can bring on board one small bag and a trolley only if you purchase Priority & 2 Cabin Bags. In this case you can bring a small bag to be put under the seat in front of you; this bag must be 35 x 20 x 20 cm in size. With Priority & 2 Cabin Bags you can take also a 10 kg trolley on board, which cannot be bigger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm.

If you haven’t purchased Priority & 2 Cabin Bags, you can only bring a small bag (35 x 20 x 20 cm) on board and your trolley (10kg, 55x40x20 cm maximum size) will be put into the hold for free.

You can also add a hold baggage to your reservation online or at the airport: you can bring a 20 kg luggage starting from € 25.

      Special equipment

You can also carry bikes, sport equipment or musical instruments on a Ryanair flight, you just need to pay a surcharge of € 30-60. The additional charge increases by € 5 or € 10 when you add this luggage directly at the airport.

      Food service

Ryanair doesn’t offer complimentary meals or snacks - the main reasons for this being its low cost fares and the rather short haul routes. However, you can buy food and beverage during the flight.

Seats and assistance to the disabled

You need to contact the company at least 48 hours before the departure if you need any assistance at the airport or on board. You can carry up to 2 pieces of mobility equipment for free. Finally, it is recommended to travel with an accompanying person or a guide dog based on how much self-sufficiency you are.

      Ryanair ticket information

        Ryanair boarding pass

You can buy Ryanair tickets directly at the airport or via the company call center but, apart from the high chance of sold outs and high prices, you have to pay € 20 for administrative fees. The cheapest way to book with Ryanair is online in fact, either from the company website or via online travel agencies such as Wanderio. The boarding pass is valid for the date, route and passenger written on it. The company accepts both printed and mobile tickets, provided that you show your identity card or document.

        For young travellers

Babies under 2 travel at a fixed fare of € 20 but they must seat on the accompanying adult's lap, while children under 16 years old are not allowed to get on board if not accompanied.

        Buying your Ryanair ticket online

Apart from being more practical, booking a Ryanair flight online is also more convenient. Moreover, using services like Wanderio let you compare Ryanair prices and schedule with other companies and you can also compare flights to other means of transport, such as trains or buses. For quickest and on-the-move searches, download the free Wanderio App for iOS.

        Ryanair check-in

When you book a Ryanair flight on Wanderio, you receive an email with all the data and instructions for the online check-in once your reservation has been confirmed, so that you can get your boarding pass and get ready to travel. Please remember that the online check-in is mandatory in order not to incur surcharges. You can make the online check-in for free from 4 days to 2 hours before the departure and you will be randomly assigned a seat. If you prefer selecting where to seat, instead, you can proceed with the online check-in up to 30 days before the departure and pay for the seat assignment.

        Ryanair fares, terms and conditions

You can choose from 3 different fares with Ryanair, which differ for one side but are very similar for other - for instance, regardless what fare you select, you won’t be able to ask for a refund.

          Business Plus

The newest and most complete fare - with a Business Plus ticket, you can bring a suitcase of up to 20 kg and you have a dedicated check-in desk, priority boarding and an assigned seat. In addition, you can modify your booking for free, both in terms of departure/arrival airport and of dates (in case you need to travel one day before or after the previously booked date).

          Leisure Plus

A good value for money compromise for those willing not to pay too much who don’t want to give up on services like a hold luggage (up to 20 kg) included in the price or priority boarding. Moreover, you can proceed with the free online check-in even 30 days before departing.

          Standard

This is the cheapest (and probably the most used) fare offered by the company. The negative side is that you have extra costs for adding services like the hold luggage and priority boarding. This is the best fare for a weekend getaway though.
