Travelling by bus with Baltour

Baltour is one of the main bus companies to operate not only in Italy, but also in many European countries. Thanks to the Baltour group travellers can reach both towns in 17 Italian regions and several cities in 23 other countries: there are up to 500 destinations you can get to with Baltour. We’re talking about a group as, along its 50 years of history, Baltour acquired two big players in the same industry, Sena, with routes mainly along the Tirrenian axis, and Eurolines Italia, specialized in connections between Italy and the rest of Europe. Therefore, you can reach the main destinations as well as minor cities in our Continent, with bus fares starting from just € 1.

Baltour routes

    Most popular routes

Baltour network is rather extensive, connecting more than 500 destinations in 23 European countries. You can get to the most popular cities, such as Paris, Naples or Barcelona from the main European cities, or even reach minor towns in Italy. All this via direct or connecting buses.

    Schedules

Baltour schedules can’t be included in few words, seen the high number of routes and destinations covered. However, a search on Wanderio can be a quick way to have a look at all the departures for the selected date. For instance, if you want to get from Rome to Siena, you can choose from 14 coaches everyday, leaving from 01.30am to 11.40pm. You can even reach Paris from London thanks to 4 daily connections between 8am and 10pm. Of course, bigger cities are served by several buses everyday, while there can be departures every few days if you need to travel on an international route or go to minor towns.

    Baltour fleet

The bus company owns coaches of the major carmakers and, most importantly, makes regular and scheduled checks in order to have their customers travel safe and comfortable. Every coach is in fact equipped with cozy 120-degrees-reclinable seats so you can sleep and rest even during long journeys.

Discover Italy by bus with Baltour

    Baltour bus services

In addition to reclinable seats, Baltour offers several facilities to its customers. However, there are slight differences between day and night buses or between routes within Italy or international ones.

      Pets on the bus

You can travel with your small-sized-pet only on day buses (that is to say the coach leaves after 5:00am and arrives within midnight of the same day). In order to do so, you need to pay a ticket worth 50% of an adult one way ticket. Moreover, your pet should travel in its carrier, which should be put under the window seat. On the contrary, you are not allowed to bring your pet with you if you’re on a night Baltour bus.

      Luggage

Every passenger can travel with a suitcase no bigger than 160cm which can be placed in the bus trunk. In addition to that, you are allowed to bring a hand luggage of maximum 50x30x10 cm that you can put in the overhead luggage rack. It’s advisable not to travel with worthy objects, while it’s not permitted to carry liquids onboard.

      Bikes on board

You can carry you bike on the coach only if you travel by bus within Italy, while you can’t on international routes. When permitted, please remember to fold or disassemble your bike and close it in a bag.

      Wifi access

On whichever Baltour bus you’re travelling on, you can access the Internet thanks to the free wifi connection offered.

      Entertainment

On Italian routes it is possible to read the company magazine, “Break”.

      Toilet

Baltour coaches are equipped with a toilet. You can otherwise go to the restroom while having a break at the service area. On journeys longer than 5 hours or night trips in fact, the bus takes regular 20 minutes stops.

Seats and assistance to the disabled

Even though people with reduced mobility are welcomed on Baltour buses, there is no guaranteed assistance for them at stops with architectural barriers. When possible, you are therefore invited to travel accompanied.

      Baltour ticket information

        The ticket

You can buy Baltour tickets in every affiliated ticket office, via the company website or call center or even on an online travel agency such as Wanderio. You can also buy them directly on the bus if there’s availability, but in this case you have to pay a € 3 extra. Baltour tickets are only valid on the date, route and direction and for the passenger printed on it; also, you have a seat assigned to you as the booking is confirmed (even though you are allowed to change it once all other passengers are onboard). The e-ticket is admitted just for routes in Italy, while for travelling through Europe you must have a printed ticket. In addition to it, you must show your identity card (for domestic journeys) or passport (on international routes).

        For young travellers

There are no reduced price for children. Moreover, you can’t travel solo if you aren’t at least 14 while those aged 14-18 can, provided that they have a written parents’ authorization.

Buying your Baltour bus ticket online

Apart from the other official channels, you can safely book your journey with Baltour on online travel agencies as Wanderio. On our site, you can find all the routes available and buy the solution that best suites your needs. If the e-ticket is enough, then, you can simply download the Wanderio App, which you can find for free on the App Store, so you can view all your tickets, even when offline.

        Baltour fares, terms and conditions

You can’t expect different amenities based on the ticket fare you have bought on a bus, as it could happen on trains or flights. However, it is possible to choose among different fares with Baltour, based on your needs - even special and low cost ones.

          Standard

Even though it is often possible to find cheaper prices when booking early, a Standard ticket will always be a bit more expensive than a special fare one, but it also the most flexible. In fact, you can only ask for changes or refunds with the Standard fare. In case you need to cancel your booking for instance, you will be refunded with 80% of the original ticket, provided that you ask for it before the departure hour printed on the ticket. You can even change the date and direction of your journey by paying a € 3 commission plus the price difference, but you’re not allowed to change the route. On international trips instead, changing the date has an extra cost of € 5 and you must ask for it within 72 hours before the departure - you will also have to integrate your ticket by 50% in this case. If you want to change the direction, on the contrary, the commission is 5€ but you just have to pay the difference of the ticket.

Promo / Economy / Special / Low cost fares

You can find low cost bus tickets thanks to this kind of fare. They all have reduced prices: you can find a limited number of tickets which is sold for just € 1, € 9 or € 19 - but be aware that they aren’t refundable nor can be changed or transferred.

          Baltour for our customers

            Rating of Baltour

The bus stop in Rimini was at a very remote location. We had difficulty locating it. Bus was over half hour late.
